On a sunlit grassy knoll overlooking the kingdom of Latavia, sixteen-year-old Princess Kira and her companion, Henry, engage in a playful sword sparring match. Their lighthearted banter is abruptly cut short by a grim sight on the road below: a royal procession forcing a group of "different" citizens into exile within the Enchanted Forest.

When the royal guards violently tear a young child from her shackled mother's arms, Kira attempts to intervene but is held back by Henry. Desperate to protect her daughter, the mother opens her mouth and breathes a devastating column of fire at a guard before being brutally subdued with a metal helmet.

The traumatic display sparks a fierce ideological debate between the two teens. Henry argues that the woman's volatile power makes her a danger to society, citing his own survival as a displaced Romalander slave who learned to play by the kingdom's strict rules. Kira counters that hiding one's true nature out of fear is what breeds danger, revealing the lingering trauma of losing her own mother to a secret.

To shatter Henry's worldview and prove her point, Kira takes a monumental risk: she unfurls a pair of magnificent, hidden red-gold wings from her back. Expecting fear or rejection, she is met instead with Henry's genuine awe. Conceding the debate, Henry softly admits, "You win again." With a newfound mutual understanding of the kingdom's injustice, Kira looks toward her future crown and vows that one day, people like them will no longer have to hide.

Themes

The Burden of Hiding vs. The Danger of Conformity: The short film explores the psychological toll of concealing one's true identity to survive in a society that fears the unusual.
Empathy vs. Institutional Order: It contrasts Kira's innate compassion for marginalized individuals against Henry’s trauma-induced compliance with oppressive societal rules.

CHARACTER LIST

KIRA — 16

Princess of Latavia and heir to the throne. Fierce, playful, and quick with a sword, Kira hides a secret beneath her royal bearing: she is not fully human. Watching an exiled woman dragged from her child forces Kira to confront her own carefully hidden nature — and the guilt she carries over her mother's death. By the end of the scene she reveals her wings to Henry, the first time she has shown anyone what she truly is.ElevenLabs:Emma (Social Media Tween, ElevenLabs v3)

HENRY — 16
A Romalander taken as a boy and given to Kira as a companion after his people were conquered by her father. Practical, protective, and shaped by a lifetime of being seen as an outsider and a threat, Henry initially defends the kingdom's fear of "different" people — until Kira's confession and her revelation force him to see his own prejudice, and his own hidden pain, different. THE YOUNG MOTHER — 30s
An unnamed woman in the exile procession, ordinary in appearance, who breathes fire when guards tear her daughter from her arms. Her punishment — a helmet clamped over her head to silence and blind her — is the inciting image of the story, the spark that pushes Kira toward her own truth.

THE DAUGHTER — 6
The mother's young child, torn from her arms by the royal guards and left behind as the procession continues into exile. Her screams, and her mother's, are the emotional charge that opens the central argument between Kira and Henry.
ROYAL GUARDS (2)
Soldiers of Latavia escorting the exile procession. One is "melted" by the mother's fire; the other subdues her with a knight's helmet. They represent the kingdom's institutional fear of "different" people, without individual characterization.
THE PROCESSION (BACKGROUND)
A shackled group of creatures and humans being marched to exile in the Enchanted Forest alongside the mother and daughter — the visible cost of Latavia's laws against those who are different.
